The Littleton food coop makes the most delicious quiche which we finished eating for supper last night.

I think we chose a good time to be away from the city. Atlanta tied on Wednesday with heat record set in 1964.

#

We had pancakes at Polly’s earlier today.

This field is just around the corner from the drone no-fly-zone, but I’m sure the same restrictions could be put in place at any moment. Anyway, I’m obviously a little bit obsessed with these flowers and this is partly because we’re usually not visiting these parts at this time of year. Our usual time for visiting New England and in particular Northern New Hampshire in the fall. My photography usually consists of the many-hued maple leaves, etc at that time of the year.

Once again we listened to the Rachel Maddow recap of the January 6th hearings via podcast. This was the fourth of these presenting the findings of the January 6th Committee and it was quite bracing.

#

I suspect someone has been having a drone issue. I’ve actually flown a drone just up the street from this area a few years ago, but I guess no more, or at least not over this particularly property full of lupine.

Here’s a follow up to my last message. Gluon is crashing on my iPad mini as well. It’s behaving the same way as I just described when using it with my iPhone for attempted text entry. Are other people experiencing a similar issue?

#

I’ve tried to use Gluon for Micro.blog on my iPhone 11 plus running iOS 5.5 but so far it seems to be rather buggy. It exits as soon as I press the upper right-hand “writing” button on the Timeline in an attempt to create an entry.

I’ve just returned from a brisk 30 minute walk listening to the latest podcast of In the Bubble by Andy Slavitt where he starts off with four pieces of good news about the present state of COVID.

Here’s the ale my wife was drinking at the restaurant a couple of evenings ago. 🍺

I borrowed another Shirley Jackson book from Avis G. Williams library earlier this evening. courtesy of Libby. This one is her second novel called Hangsaman. Of course, I still have to finish “The Lottery” collection. 📖

I passed by this intersects many times but next stopped to take a photo of this old cog steam train until late today an hour before sunset.

If you really want to get your ice cream money’s worth you can’t go wrong dropping in at this place when in the area.

Clearly I’m out of shape. We only walked for a couple of miles yesterday down to the LaFayette Place Campground from Cannon Cliff Parking but I’m feeling tired and sore today. Anyhow, here’s a picture that I took at the campground. Later we did reward ourselves with food and beers that I mentioned late yesterday.

And of course not long after my previous entry I got the payment situation sorted out. I’m now happy to be using the micro.blog hosted site. :).

#

I’ve just sent off an email to micro.blog help enquiring about how to pay for a subscription. I’ve so far only been offered the Premium price of $10 a month but I’m more comfortable as a retired person with the $5 a month subscription payment. Also, I don’t need the extra features provided at the higher level.

We had a late Father’s Day dinner this afternoon. The restaurant was actually full at 5:30 and we had to wait for about 15 minutes to get an outside table on the front deck. It was worth the wait, however. And the beer that I was drinking comes from the Schilling Beer Co in Littleton NH - it’s a Czech Alexandr Pilsner. 🍺

Sunset hour really is an excellent time to be out and about taking photos and particularly when visiting Arches National Park.

The man from Whitfield has just come to the Little House and sprayed the foundation to discourage the carpenter ants. He did it last year in June on the 21st so it’s been almost exactly a year since the last treatment.

I’m happy to see that Apple TV (and other streaming services?) have the novel referred to here available for $3.99 on their streaming service.

This is quite an extensive review of iA Writer version 6 but the editor doesn’t do backlinks. Too bad.

I’m on a Shirley Jackson reading binge at the moment having just finished We Have Always Lived in the Castle and I’m now reading the collection of short stories “The Lottery”. 📚

I mentioned liquid propane yesterday when I talked about straining my back. Here is an article on how to safely store this material, and here is another.

Watching the final episode of Inventing Anna

#

I strained my back this afternoon for the second time in about a month. This time it happened when I was placing a liquid propane 50 pound container into the trunk of our car.
