I hope these entries don’t go away when I get to the of my two week evaluation. I’m presuming I’ll just go to the free version of Micro.blog at that time.
I realize that I’ve actually been using Day One for 10 years.
I was looking forward to having a Green Mountain coffee here at the Waterbury visitors Center but they are close at the moment
I really like using Day One for journaling. It records not only date and time of an entry but also location and weather conditions. Location can be recorded from the metadata of an included photo for an entry entered after the fact. Very elegant indeed.
I’m trying to keep cool this week, but living in the south of the US makes that something of a challenge. At least we have AC but I do like to do a daily walk outside. Lately, I’ve been doing this first thing in the morning before the heat and humidity really kick in.
Economic conditions out there are beginning to remind me of the ’70s.
Even if you don’t own a EV or hybrid vehicle you can still get better gas mileage and therefore fight back against rising prices by simply lowering the speed at which you drive. I’m presently getting about 66 mpg on the highway at 70 mph with our Prius. I guess I should also slow down to do even better!
My daughter has a couple of cats and I think she can relate to the cartoon. They even bought the cat climbing device a few weeks ago but then a box arrives…

He’s saying that pro and serious amateur photographers will be buying lenses when they upgrade because of the superb quality of these products made for mirrorless cameras. www.bythom.com/newsviews…
On my walk this morning I listened to Friday night’s “All in with Chris Hayes” as a podcast. The topic of course was the Jan 6 hearings and I suspect I’ll be listening to a lot more of this in the next few weeks.
I have now taken the ointment for the infection causing the itching in my right eye. I’ll be applying this 3 or 4 times a day for the next ten days.
We are moving after 22 years in the same house and are in a continuing “throwing out things” mode. Thank goodness for CHARM, Restore and Last Chance.
I hope to post linked Flickr photos here such as what follows. This is Ruby Beach on the Olympic Peninsula coast.
I’ve just rescued 22-year-old regular paper album photos from Spain that I need to digitize and put on my Flickr album that I’d set up with some previously digitized pictures from the same trip.
We are back from Restore but as usual I forgot to take a photo. I’m generally taking photos to document where we’ve been and when etc.
I started listening to a recent Ezra Klein podcast with Thomas Piketty but I was missing a lot of the conversation because of that strong French accent of Piketty’s.
Pizza on a recent cold Friday evening in Seattle. Somewhere between Fremont and Ballard.
Our local hardware store is really trying hard to compete with the Walmart across the street.
I setup an RSS feed for this new microblog and it is now showing up on my Reeder software.
I’ve just finished a video appointment with a Kaiser Permanente optometrist who gave me some advice about my itchy right eye. In particular I am curious to learn that KP actually has a doctor who is a specialist in eye lid issues.
I hope that our house will become quite spotless after we choose a recommended company for an overdue deep cleaning.
A better vaccine for Covid on the way? It does look encouraging thanks to ongoing research by this company.
I just got credit for more books at Eagle Eye bookstore. I seem to have a knack for having them take my books.
This article describes a risk that not too many of us are really thinking about except that it can be a matter of life and death occasionally
We are presently working our way through episodes of “Veep”. Over the last few months before we finally turn off the TV after two or three hours of streaming, we’ve been viewing a short comedy series. We’ve gone through “The Office”, “Community”, “Parks & Recreation”, “Seinfeld”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, etc, etc and now we’re working our way through “Veep”
