The best feature of iOS 17 for me is the updated Camera app {allowing full use of the 48 megapixel sensor in so called HEIF Max mode) being extended to the iPhone 14 Pro. I have one less reason to update to the iPhone 15 Pro. For the last couple of days I’ve been taking photos in this mode and I’m very impressed with my camera upgrade. :)
I’m writing this particular entry in Drafts and posting using the action “Post/Update to Micro.blog”. One of the attractive features of this action is the ability to restrict cross-postings to certain other social media - in my case, Mastodon, Bluesky and Tumblr.
I’ve had some ongoing nasal congestion with a slight sore throat but I just tested negative for Covid using a rapid test. I suppose I’ll test again in a couple of days since we have a visitor coming from out of town in a few days. Actually I’m also hoping to get the latest vaccine this coming week.
New iPhone Models
#I upgraded last year from the iPhone 11 Pro to the 14 Pro and I’d probably just do the same this year and not go for the 15 model. For a photography at least the 14 is probably going to be just as good, if not better, than the 15 model as well as saving some memory on all devices.
It’s frustrating that I can’t get meaningful information returned on a search for COVID-19, vaccine, etc. in Threads. This is particularly upsetting at a time when virus activity is increasing and I’ve been thinking that the new search capability would actually be useful.
I love the colors revealed in this photo of a Mt Rainier glacier.

I have continued to use an N95 mask when indoors around large groups of people but recently I’ve been relaxing my guard a little bit. This is a good reminder that the virus is still out there.
He’s actually reviewing a beta version of iOS 17. I think that I’ll be patient and wait for the final Apple release. I have Beta Updates turned off on my iPhone.
An interesting article about Elon Musk and his approach to free speech on his platform.

We are hiking around near the visitors center at Sunshine close to the area where my daughter and her husband started their ascent to the summit of Mt Rainier a few years ago. I suspect they encountered more snow even for their summer ascent.

We spent some time today getting a closeup look at Mt Rainier after driving up to Sunshine.

We have arrived here at Crystal Mountain Resort at a good time. The kids have all returned to school this past Labor Day so things are a little quiet which is fine by us.

Walking along the waterfront just north of the Edmonds to Kingston ferry terminal yesterday afternoon.

Down at the Edmonds shoreline this evening and trying to take some interesting photos with my relatively new Nikkor Z 50mm Prime lens.

Posting now using MarsEdit which is sending this text to Micro.Blog which then connects to Mastodon, Bluesky and Tumblr. I don’t think I care about Threads at the moment. MarsEdit beta also sends entries to Mastodon when configured for that service.
Here’s another photo down at the Edmonds Shoreline. This time I’m a little further south of the Pier and next to Anthony’s Restaurant. This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago while we had visitors.
On Edmonds Pier last evening.

My wife just telling me she saw Jimmy Buffett 3 times and is a Parrethead. I presume that’s not very many times at all for the true fans. She did see him at a very small intimate venue in Atlanta when he was not well known.
Here at the very popular Edmonds Farmers Market this Saturday. I’m at the booth which shows off the advantages of the Edmonds Marsh and how there’s an effort to reintroduce salmon by extending the estuary to the Sound.

We watched Lola last night on Amazon Prime and I think it’s one of the better sf movies that I’ve seen in the last year. Too bad it was overlooked as one of this year’s dramatic Hugo nominations.
Time to check out the new store in town. Tasty icecream indeed.

Wow, there’s actually been some thunder and lightening in the Edmonds area. Nothing compared with what we used to have in Atlanta of course.
We are planning on making a trip to Mt Rainer in the next week or two. It’s just a little too far for a one day drive from Edmonds so we’re thinking of staying some place close to Paradise. #travel
I hope this particular variant sticks around for a while longer. It’s quite a let down going back to the standard Coke Zero.

Finally getting to see Barbie here at the Edmonds Theater. And I like the $7 ticket price for afternoon matenee
